The India Post Department developed an application for its customers. This new mobile application is named Dak Sewa 2.0.

Recently, the India Post Office Department implemented IT 2.0 technology in all the post offices across India.
According to this latest technology, they developed new software and mobile applications.
Actually, this application is the upgraded version of the PostInfo App.
The CEPT developed the Dak Sewa App after the implementation of IT 2.0 in the Department of Posts
IT 2.0 Dak Sewa Application
Dak Sewa App is a mobile application for all indians to access post office services from their home.
This app will ask you to access your device location for the first time. Just choose Precise and ‘While using the app’ access for a better experience.
In the top right corner of this app, four icons are available. These are as under-
- In-App Search
- Notifications
- Language Settings
- Dark Mode
You can adjust the language, dak mode, and notifications as needed.
Registered Customer’ and ‘Continue as a guest
Two types of customers can log in to this Dak Sewa Application.
Registered Customers- These customers have the Customer ID. They can log in Dak Sewa using their customer ID. They can also log in using mobile OTP.
Continue as a Guest– These customers do not have a Customer ID. Therefore, they can log in using mobile OTP.
Just enter your mobile number, and an OTP will be received. Enter this OTP. You wil be logged in to Dak Sewa Application.
Dak Sewa Application Features
Dak Sewa Application provides a lot of services to its customers. These are as under-

01. Article Tracking
The Customer can track and trace their articles, parcel, and eMOs using the Track N Trace Option of this Dak Sewa Application.
Just enter the 13-digit article number, enter captcha code, and click on the Track button.
You will get full information about your article or parcel. It shows all events like booking date, delivery date, step-by-step handling office name, along with date and time. etc.
02. Post Office Search
Using this option, customers can search nearest post office. They can also find all the details of any post office situated across India.
This app also provides a location-based post office search option. Just enable location on your phone and search the nearest post office using the Location-based post office search option.
User can also search any post office by entering the name of the post office and PIN code.
03. PLI Premium Calculator
PLI (Postal Life Insurance) or RPLI Premium Calculator is one of the best features of this mobile application.
Premium Calculator is available in the Service Tab on the application.
Users can calculate the monthly premium amount of any PLI/RPLI policy.
Just follow the steps below to get the PLI premium.
- First of all, select the policy type, whether PLI or RPLI.
- Enter the desired amount in the Sum Assured option.
- Enter the age as your next birthday in the column Age on Next Birthday.
- Now, click on the Calculate the Premium option.
- After entering the details, the app will compute and display the estimated premium amount, including applicable taxes.
- Now, select the Policy type PLI or RPLI from the radio buttons.
- Enter the fields, ‘Policy Sum Assured’, ‘Age as on Next Birthday’, etc., and tap on the ‘Get Quote’ button to get the detailed quotations of different schemes of PLI/RPLI policies.
- The premium amount payable for different PLI schemes and different maturity ages will be displayed in the app.
- The periodicity of the premium can be changed from the dropdown options monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and yearly.
- You may also tap on the ‘Info’ button available in the ‘Premium calculator’ screen to get the detailed information and features of different schemes of PLI/RPLI policies.
04. Article Postage Calculator
This option is available under ‘Quick Services’ in the Home screen of the app.
Customers can calculate the exact postage charges for both domestic and international letter articles/Parcels using the postage calculator option.
Just follow the steps below to calculate the postage for your article or parcel-
- First of all, choose the postage calculator option.
- Select Domestic or International from the drop-down options.
- Article Details tab will appear.
- Now, select the Article type from the drop-down list as ‘Speed Post’ or other as per your requirement.
- Check the box for ‘Acknowledgement/POD’ if required.
- Now select the article shape.
- Enter the weight in grams in the field ‘Weight’.
- Enter the length, width of the envelope (Length and Width are Optional).
- Enter the Source Pincode and Destination Pincode.
- Lastly, click on the ‘Calculate’ button.
- You will get a message on the screen, “Postage data retrieved successfully”, and the Total postage amount will be displayed.
- Click on the ‘View Tariff Details’ button to see the detailed break-up figures, like Postage, POD charges, Insurance charges, Base tariff, Taxes and Total charges.
05. Register a Complaint
The register a complaint option is one of the most important features for all customers.
Customer can register their complaint using this option. The categories available in the complaint registration are as under-
- Domestic Mails and Parcel Services
- Allegation of Corruption/Malpractices/Misbehaviour
- International Mails
- Insurance Services
- Network and Basic Amenities in Offices
- Philately
- Citizen-centric Services
- Financial Services
Just follow the step-by-step procedure below to register a complaint instantly.
- First of all, click on the Register your Complaint icon.
- This App will show the complaint registration screen.
- Now select the category of the complaint, and select the service.
- Then enter the Article Number to fetch the details of the transaction in case of complaint related to Mails. In case of POSB complaints, enter the Account number, Transaction Amount, Transacting Post office, etc. In case of PLI complaints, enter the Policy number/Proposal no/agent ID/Transacting post office, etc.
- After that, enter the detailed description about the complaint in not more than 500 characters.
- After entering all the details click on Next button.
- Now you will get the booking data of your article if you are registering a complaint for your booked article.
- This will be auto-fetched and auto-filled in the details field.
- You have to enter the details manually for those articles for which booking data is not available.
- App will also provide an option to upload the supporting documents, if any.
- Just click on the upload button to upload the document.
- Note: Only file types JPG/JPEG and PDF and the maximum file size allowed for upload is 200KB. Files with other formats and exceeding size limit will be rejected.
- After that enter the captcha code and tap on ‘Submit’ button to complete the process of registering complaint.
- A pop-up screen will appear with message “Your complaint has been registered successfully” along with Complaint ID.
- The complaint ID can be copied to clipboard by tapping on ‘Copy ID’ button.
Customers can track the status of complaints raised by them using the option ‘Track Complaint’ available under ‘Quick Services’ in the Home screen.
It will show the present status of your complaint.
POSB Interest Calculator
POSB Interest Calculator is a feature available in the Dak Sewa App to help users to know estimate returns on various Post Office Savings Schemes.

- Recurring Deposit
- Time Deposit
- Monthly Income Scheme

To know the interest calculation of any post office scheme, follow the step below-
- First of all, select the post office scheme name.
- Now, enter the necessary information, such as deposit amount, tenure, and start date.
- After that, click on the Calculate option.
- App will compute and display the estimated maturity amount and interest earned.
- There is an ‘Info’ button available on the bottom of the same page, By tapping on the button, user can get the information and features on the selected POSB scheme.
